Lost Worlds
This collection is incredible, Smith is a master at poetic prose and he is
a joy to read. Many of the stories read like fables with a subtle or not so
subtle message, and he is not afraid to go for non-conventional plots or
outcomes. Includes the excellent The Empire of the Necromancers with two
exploitative Necromancers getting their just deserts, The Holiness of
Azedarac, a tale where a time travelling priest finds that priesthood is
not all its cracked up to be, and the chilling tale The Hunters from Beyond
with its demon haunted Artist. Great stuff. [out of print]
Tales of Zothique
This essential collection brings together all of the stories in Smith's
Zothique cycle, from the 1932 story The Empire of the Necromancers to the
1951 play The Dead Will Cuckold You. It includes some of the best fantasy
stories that Smith wrote and there isn't a dull moment. [in print - Necronomicon Press]
The Book of Hyperborea
Yet another excellent collection of Clark Ashton Smith's short fiction,
this time all of it based in the ancient world of Hyperborea. An excellent
sense of wit and irony fill these stories, including the excellent The
Testament of Athammaus, The Coming of the White Worm and The Seven Geases. [in print - Necronomicon Press]
